View of the South Rim Cliffs from Indian Gardens. This is a view looking south from the north end of Indian Gardens. The campground fence is on the right. At the peak of the "V" at the head of the canyon you can see that the white Coconino Cliffs are slightly lower on the left side of the fault than on the right. You can also see the talus slide in the middle of the fault. This is what has made it possible for a trail to be constructed through the Coconino. The section of switchbacks up that talus slope through the Coconino Cliffs is called the "Cinch Up" by the mule wranglers. |
