The Main Visitor Center (Canyon View Center) for Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim) is open from 8 AM to 5 PM, daily. It is located opposite Mather Point, approximately 4 miles north of the south entrance station. To visit Canyon View Center you should park at Mather Point and follow the short, paved trail.

Here you may obtain maps and brochures about the park. A ranger is always on duty at the information desk to answer any questions that you might have. There are also numerous exhibits describing the natural history of the Grand Canyon.

The Grand Canyon Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the Grand Canyon as a natural and cultural resource, operates a souvenier / gift / book shop on the opposite side of the plaza from the Canyon View Center. They sell a number of books, maps, pamphlets, videos, CDs, DVDs and other publications relating to the Grand Canyon and it's geologic, natural and human history. The also have an abundance of educational materials relating to the Grand Canyon.
