Cameron

Flying into Phoenix we headed up to Flagstaff on Interstate 17. From there we opted to take US-89 and AZ-64 up to the Canyon and enter the park at the eastern entrance, near Desert View. We normally would have taken US-180 to AZ-64 from Flagstaff and entered the park at the south entrance station, near Tusayan, but on this trip we wanted to visit the Cameron Trading Post in Cameron to do some shopping before heading into the park. The shopping trip was successful and we purchased a machine made Navajo rug for our living room. I also got a chance to take some photos of the Little Colorado River as it passes through Cameron. It was quite dry and there was no sign of any water flowing.

Grand Canyon - East Entrance

From Cameron we headed into the park via AZ-64. We stopped along the way to take some photos of the Little Colorado River gorge and then again at Desert View. After checking in at Maswik Lodge we headed over to the Bright Angel Restaurant for dinner and to watch the sun set.
