Trail Description : Transept Trail

The Transept Trail is a rim trail that runs between the North Rim Campground and Grand Canyon Lodge. The trail leaves the North Rim Campground near the General Store and contours along the edge of The Transept until it reaches the Grand Canyon Lodge. It is only 1.5 miles long, very well maintained and very easy to follow.

The Transept is the second largest tributary drainage that feeds Bright Angel Canyon, the largest being the Phantom Creek drainage. Because it is so deep the vistas presented along this trail are magnificent.

The Park Service usually offers a Ranger Talk that takes you along part of this trail. Check your copy of the park newspaper, THE GUIDE, when you arrive at the park for details on times and meeting places.
