05:45 Get up, shower and get ready for breakfast. Will pack up gear after breakfast.
06:00 Thought breakfast was at 06:00 but its not until 06:30.
Start packing gear into backpack.
06:30 - 07:00 Breakfast.
07:15 Leave Jacob Lake.
08:00 Arrive at Forest Service road #22.
08:30 Arrive at Saddle Mountain (Nankoweap) trailhead.
08:35 Start down.
09:40 Arrive at official (Grand Canyon National Park) Nankoweap trailhead. It is a beautiful day, sunny and still a little cool. I know it will get a lot hotter though. Rest until 10:00.
10:15 At bottom of upper switchbacks. Begin long traverse to Marion Point and Tilted Mesa beyond.
10:55 "Scary" spot seems worse that four years ago, rather than better. Appears longer and less wide (if that's possible).
11:20 At Marion Point. Rest and have lunch. There were numerous helicopter tours during the morning. Cache 2 liters of water for the hike out.
13:00 Get going again.
14:05 Found a shady spot. Take a long rest. I don't want to get to Tilted Mesa too early, as there is very little shade there. This location has good shade and is very comfortable. It is very cool here - almost cold at times. Awesome view as well.

The Nankoweap trail seems a lot more eroded than I remember, also more rock falls to cross and more than the one "scary" section.

15:00 Head off for Tilted Mesa.
15:40 Found a campsite just above Tilted Mesa. It is very nice, up high and wide open. I can't wait to see the stars from here tonight. The moon is getting very close to its new phase and should not interfere at all. Make some brief repairs to the "gate" to lower Nankoweap. The big cairn on the right side is missing.
16:15 Camp established. Change into shorts and relax with a little R&R time before dinner. I found two very warm and very flat stones that have been sitting in the sun all day and I am heating up my hot dogs between them.
