Tuesaday, March 30, 1999

I finally got up just before 01:30 because I just could not sleep. I broke camp quickly under the light of the moon and was on the trail at 02:00! I was able to hike for the most part by the light of the moon and only had to use my flashlight in some of the deeper, darker shadows. The rest of the morning seems to have passed by in a blur and went something like this:

02:55 Phantom Overlook.
03:15 North Kaibab Trail.
03:25 Phantom Ranch - Bacon smells too good, there should be a law!
03:40 Left Phantom Ranch.
04:30 River resthouse - Bright Angel Trail.
05:15 Top of Devils Corkscrew.
06:20 Indian Gardens. Cold and Breezy. Pain-in-the-butt bee won't leave me alone.
06:50 Left Indian Gardens
07:50 Three-Mile resthouse.
08:00 Left Three-Mile resthouse.
09:00 One-and-a-Half-Mile resthouse.
09:10 Left One-and-a-Half-Mile resthouse.
10:15 Bright Angel trailhead.
