GRAND CANYON Explorer home
About This Site

The GRAND CANYON Explorer web site was the first web site on the Internet dedicated to the Grand Canyon, and only the second web site dedicated to a National Park.

The web site went on-line in December, 1994, and since its debut has been a major success. It has won numerous awards and now receives about 60,000 hits per month. Several million visitors have been served since its debut.

I created the web site as a labor of love to give the world a small sample of what the Grand Canyon has to offer, to help other people plan their visits, to share my photographs of the Canyon, and later to allow myself and other backcountry travelers to share and enjoy each other's trip reports. Since its inception numerous other people have contributed both photographs and trip reports to the site and have helped it to grow to the success that it is now.

The PDA & Pocket PC version of the web site represents only a small portion of the original web site as the size limitations would make it impossible (today) for the entire web site to be downloaded to a handheld device. The main Internet web site at www.kaibab.org contains much, much more, including but not limited to the following:
