GRAND CANYON Explorer home
Pocket PC & PDA version

There is now a special version of the GRAND CANYON Explorer web site that has been reduced in size and reformatted to be suitable for use on handheld devices such as the Pocket PC.

Click here to view the Pocket PC & PDA version of the web site.

If you would like to download a copy of this new site to your Pocket PC or PDA, there are two versions available, depending on how you wish to load it onto your device:

The easiest approach is to download the WinZip archive that contains the web site to your desktop PC, extact the web site files from it and then transfer these files to your Pocket PC using Microsoft ActiveSync or whatever syncronization method your specific device uses. Once the files have been transfered to your handheld device you can use Pocket Internet Explorer or any other browser to navigate to it. The main page home that you will need to open is called "index" (index.html). You will need to have approximately 1 megabyte of free space in your device to transfer the web site to it. While this might seem to be a lot of space, keep in mind that the main Internet web site is now approximately 2 gigabytes.
Click here for the WinZip archive (538k).
If you don't already have a copy of WinZip, click here to get one.

The other approach is to use AvantGo to load a copy onto your handlheld device by creating a channel for it.

The options for the "Create Channel" dialog are given below. You may click here to be taken directly to the AvantGo Create Channel dialog.

Title: GRAND CANYON Explorer
Location: http://bob.inet911.com/pda
Channel Size: 1500
Link Depth: 10
Include Images:YES
Follow Links: NO
Refresh: ONLY ONCE

The web site has been tested using both of the above methods and works splendidly on my Jornada 548 Pocket PC, which is manufactured by Hewlett-Packard.
