The Grand Canyon and Continental Drift

Continental drift is a concept that was originally developed in 1912 by a German meteorologist by the name of Alfred Wegener. Some of the key facts that he used to support his theory is the shape and fit of the continents and the distribution of similar fossils and rock layers around the planet. Based on his observations Wegener proposed that all of todays modern continents were once part of a supercontinent, which is today known as Pangea.
